Ich bin ein Texas Longhorn

Do any of you remember a Texas Longhorn basketball player from the early 1980s by the name of Jack Worthington? Neither do we. But he apparently wasn't too shabby: in 1981-82, he set a then-Longhorn record for points scored - 18 - by a freshman in his debut game. (He left the team the following season.)

Well, unbeknownst to them, Texas players and coaches may have been in the presence of American royalty. That's right: Worthington is now claiming that he is the love child of former President John F. Kennedy. Vanity Fair has the story here.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Worthington comes across as a bit of a flake. Also genetic tests have cast doubt on his claim, and Worthington's family, in a statement sent to Vanity Fair after the above article was published, says he is full of it. So, needless to say, one shouldn't take his claim terribly seriously.

Still, proving that one of the classic American political rivalries is alive and well, we have learned that friends and family of the late Richard Nixon are pressuring former Razorback Craig Olson, also a freshman during the 1981-82 season, to claim that he is the illegitimate son of the 37th President.
