Schadenfreude

Given the Hogs' own brush with death on Saturday night - and the prospects of humiliating losses on the horizon - perhaps we shouldn't be too gleeful about Arkansas State's upset of Texas A&M. But, we can't help ourselves: those old SWC rivalries are slow to die, and our cup of schadenfreude doth runneth over.

Just more than a year ago, the then-Indians teased us with an oh-so-close loss to Texas in Austin. This Labor Day weekend, however, they closed the deal.

All in all, not a bad debut for the new Red Wolves mascot.

And what if we don’t beat Texas A&M come next year? I am sure our A-state friends will let us hear about it. “Well, we beat those guys on their home turf last year.” But the truth is the Hogs and the Aggies are a lot alike this year with both of them having new coaching staffs and new systems to install. Next year will be an interesting test to see which team has made the most progress with their new coach. Hopefully that team will be the Razorbacks.
