"Light My Fire" May Never Sound the Same Again
In honor of the Crimson Tide coming to town this weekend, we present this YouTube clip of the fourth-quarter touchdown drive that gave the Hogs their first-ever victory over Alabama. The date: Sept. 16, 1995. The location: Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Nothing says SEC football quite like 1960s psychedelic rock, so it makes perfect sense that the uploader of the clip chose The Doors as the musical accompaniment. The footage is so sweet that it almost makes Ray Manzarek's interminable organ solo bearable.

Wow, great find Stephen. Two thoughts from me:
1. I miss Madre Hill.
2. Nobody could wear a baseball cap like Danny Ford.

Great clip! This is one of the first games I can remember from end to end. I can remember where I was sitting when Meadors made that catch. It is memorable because my Dad’s friend wouldn’t let us move from the spots we were standing once the Hogs started playing better.
Hopefully, the extra days that Ike gave the Hogs will show on the field. (I’m not holding my breath)

wow. that was fun. and, those were great runs. holy third down conversions. if i remember correctly, we followed up this game by watching fla crush ut, then left the high point pinch for some sega hockey ’95, found a ride to oxford with some ole miss coeds and probably missed a class or two on monday.
was j.j. the smallest hog footballer ever. and, i’m glad it was lunney jr and not mike cherry.

I can remember sitting with a friend of mine, in his truck, listenting to his radio, out in the driveway, after coming back from a hunting trip. We couldn’t believe the Hogs were actually going to beat the Tide in Tuscalusa. Niether one of us could move until the last second had exspired. Great memories!

Speaking of Felix, I hope all of you saw his kick-off return for a touchdown on MNF last night. I am not a Cowboy fan, but I was shouting “Go, Felix, Go, Felix!” just like in the olden days, haha.
I am not for sure when I became aware of the Tide losing to Arkansas for the first time. On this date in 1995 I was doing the post college backpacking trip in Europe tour. Somewhere in France, I guess. If I had known, I would have let out a Wooo Pig Sooie that would have awoken the dead French nobility from their graves. Haha. Mon Dieu! The Hogs beat the Tide!

Uh, the ball bounced.
Still, a sweet sweet win. We’ll need a boatload of similar plays to beat Bama this week.

I was watching that game in a casino bar in Shreveport,La. That catch on 4th down killed me. They zoomed in on it in slow motion and you could see it hit the ground. In real time I see how the refs wouldn’t catch it but you still don’t want to lose that way.
