A Nutty Day

Oh boy, it just gets worse and worse. Is it too late to just redshirt this whole season?

These guys seriously look like they don’t give a shit. We look like a high school team – maybe worse. I think I could start at strong-side LB and/or left tackle.
I’m all about Petrino being a fantabulous coach but two weeks in a row? WTF. I need some sign that things will eventually change.
Re Houston – no surprise there. He loses one last week he shouldn’t have and wins one this week he shouldn’t have. Where have I experienced this before? Ole Miss fans will go apeshit about how great a win it was and how they’re back, but I think we all know how it will turn out. Enjoy it Rebs, albeit briefly. Look at our team now, that’s you in 3-4 years, maybe less.

I know what you mean CJLR.
The first half was all I could take. I was happy that our D-line laid a couple licks on Texas, but, that was it. Our LB’s look like they had just been weaned… or had just come back from a parade in San Francisco. I know we have a good staff, but I also know that HD Nutt made sure to flew the program into the ground before he left, common courtesy for a back-stabbing, tasteless, egotist.
There is hope though… at least that’s what I keep telling myself.
But, on a lighter note, the Golden Hurricanes won 62 -34. If we lose to anyone else this year, I hope it is them at Homecoming.

“If we lose to anyone else….”
Very funny! We will lose to them at Home Coming. I couldn’t be more sure of any game this year. Our defense against Gus? Forget it.
Could Nutty have left the cupboard more bare?

ANNUS HORRIBILIS!!!!!!!!!
That is what the 2008 season is shaping up as. I too wish we could just red-shirt it. I guess if I had some hope right now that things would get better this year I wouldn’t feel as bad. But we didn’t look like any better of a team, really, than the team that played Alabama. Fewer turnovers being a plus, I guess. In the gloom of the day after, I can see each game hereafter being pretty much a butt whoopin’ in some fashion or another. Which team on our schedule couldn’t put up about 50 points on this defense? Maybe they’ll get things turned around. I don’t know. But I highly doubt Florida is going to drop two SEC games in a row.
UGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Colonel Nutt, who couldn’t beat them in Atlanta when it meant the most to us, goes out and beats Florida in the swamp on the same day. Talk about putting salt in the wound! Geez. And I agree with the other poster. Ole Miss, don’t put too much stock into this. Consistency is something that Houston Nutt is not known for. Except he was consitent at Arkansas at always losing the next SEC game after he lost the first of the season. I guess that curse, unfortunately, hasn’t caught up with him yet at Oxford.

Maybe we could transfer to a less demanding conference this season instead of red-shirting. Something like the Big East. At first I was foolishly optimistic about this season and our abilities. Now, I’m willing to admit we’re just not a very good SEC team, this season. I’m still hopeful for next season, and the season after that, because we’ve got a lot of freshmen who really show promise, and I’m confident that the coaching staff will tap into that potential. I’m also still interested in seeing how we perform against an SEC team that’s not ranked, much less in the Top 10.
Re: Houston Nutt. I’ll ask the same thing about him that asked about 2 other Arkansas defectors, Mitch Mustain and Damien Williams: Where was this performance when he was here? I mean, he takes last season’s worst SEC team to a victory over a Top 5 opponent, but he can’t manage a win over Alabama last season with 2 first-round draft picks? I will admit, however, that I’m happy to see that little Mitchy is a third stringer at USC. I wonder how his mom feels about that.
Finally, in an act of solidarity, I’m still taking Hog over Rebels on Oct. 25. It’ll make a great birthday present.

Don’t worry too much about Nutt. He’s already prooving what he’s about. I’m suprised a lot of other people haven’t seen it. Remember the talent he inherited from Danny Ford in ‘98? The talent he’s recieved from Orjeron is even better. Make no mistake about that, but at the same time, Nutt’s team has already lost back to back games to less talented teams like Wake Forrest and Vandi. Ole Miss fans are ok with this right now, because they couldn’t buy a game with thier last nickel a year ago. After this year, and losing to at least one more team they probably have no buisiness losing to, exspectations will soar sky high. Wait and see what they say about ole Hootie two years from now. Might as well face it this year though, they think he’s God. Drew, it’s sad that you have such a low opinion of a 20 year old kid. (18 then) But remember this. At SC, they don’t recruit “fair to middlin” QBs. Sanchez was every bit as good as Mitch in HS just one year earlier. Corp was rated the #4 QB last year in HS, but basically has as much exsperience as Mitch does in the USC offense, considering Mitch had to sit out last year. Don’t be so quik to laugh at this kid. He would be starting at a lot of other schools, including Arkansas. That’s not a knock on Casey, but Mustain is just simply more talented. Don’t be suprised if he’s “the man” before he leaves SC in two more years.
