The (Bowl) Dream is Over

Wow. Wow. Wow.

What a near comeback. What a nice performance by Nathan Dick. And what a day for Lucas Miller. Still, when all was said and done, Arkansas was left with yet another heartbreaking loss, as the defense was shredded by MSU's awful offense.

And let the record show that the Razorbacks' dream of appearing in a crappy bowl officially died at 4:48 CST on Saturday, Nov. 22. No trip to Shreveport for the Poulan Weedeater Bowl (I know, I know - it's not called that anymore.) No journey down Highway 78 for the Pizza Bowl in Birmingham.

I'll give you a few moments to compose yourself.

After the brutal start to this season, it would have been nice to see the team get a bowl berth (and nice for next season to get the extra practice time). Look at it this way, though: At least there's no chance of the Hogs dampening your holiday fun with yet another lame bowl loss.

I'll confess to being ready for this season to end, which is convenient since, in fact, it will do just that next Friday. I retain every bit of my enthusiasm for the hiring of Petrino and am full of hope for the future. And I will tune in next Friday afternoon for what has become one of the most enjoyable parts of the Thanksgiving weekend and root the guys on as enthusiastically as ever.

But, I've just about had my fill of disheartening losses for the year. Good thing there's the possibility of only one more.

Stephen, good summary of what I think a lot of us are thinking right about now. And is the season really about over? Wow. It feels like it has gone by so fast. I look back to the pre-season magazines I read in the summer that had Arkansas finishing last in the SEC West. I thought, “No, Way!” I believed that our lines would be good enough to prevent that, for we had experience there. But they weren’t as good as billed this year, experience or not, and I think that has a lot to do with our troubles. The old cliche’ that the games are won or lost in the trenches is true. And Casey Dick, bless his heart, just never got to where we wanted to see him. Outside of punting and Dennis Johnson’s kick-off return, special teams was never that special. Oh, I guess the on-side kicks were nice, but they only set us up for more heartbreak.

I’ll be in the north endzone on Friday for the LSU game. It sure would be nice to end the season with a win, and despite LSU’s loss today to Colonel Nutt, it would be big for Arkansas to beat LSU two years in a row, something which I don’t think we’ve done before. We can keep the boot around, and more importantly, take something positive, a positive memory, into the post-season and a positive memory for all the Hogs that will be playing their last game. 5-7 looks better than 4-8 for sure. Oh, but 6-6 would have been even nicer!

Well.  It is still Saturday.
I listened the whole afternoon to the football game, and just kept the radio on for the basketball game.
Now it is half-time.

Am I in Razorback Hell????

P.S. I do agree with the above comments. But, today was just TOO disappointing.

Cheer up guys.
Remember the old saying, “nothing good ever stays that way forever, and nothing bad ever stays that way forever”.
Better days are ahead Hog fans.
Look at it this way; Is our football team as bad as the one Jack Crowe took over, way back in 1990? Is the basketball team as bad as the one Nolan Richardson took over in ‘85?
All good things must come to an end, along with the bad.
Life runs in circles, and there’s absolutely nothing that can be done about that, but the writing is on the wall guys. Good days are ahead.
I am 42 years old, and have been a Razorback fan for as long as I can remember, and this is absolutely the youngest 2 Razorback teams I have ever seen at the UofA in the same year, and both of them with new coaches.
Even the Chancellor and AD are brand new, and the people that were occupying those 2 positions were probably the biggest 2 problems we had over the past couple of years.
Hang tight Hog fans. We’ll be getting ready for takeoff in just a couple more years. Bank on it!

GO HOGS GO!!!!!
