You Have Got to be Kidding Me

Per Brandon Marcello at Whole Hog Sports' Slophouse blog, Courtney Fortson has been suspended indefinitely. That's right. Courtney. Fortson.

During Pelphrey's press conference this afternoon, a reporter remarked that people might say that Arkansas now has no chance against Kentucky on Saturday. According to Brandon, this was Pelphrey's response:

"I wouldn’t blame you for saying it. But by the same token, I’ve played enough and coached enough to know that it’s still a game. It’s not played on paper. We’ve got an unbelievable home court. If you have an unbelievable attitude, encourage your teammates, [and have an] understanding of what it’s about to be part of a team, anything’s possible. I’m sure some of the same things were said before Oklahoma and Texas, and I’m not going to sit here and tell you it’s not accurate. But I’ll tell you this, we’re going to work our tails off to get prepared."

Stay tuned to The Slophouse for more updates.

And Chris Bahn of ArkansasSports360.com has a story up now and has promised updates.

Well, I have to say that watching Brandon Marcello’s video of Pelphrey’s announcement, I felt better about him as a coach than I have in several weeks. No matter what, the coach must be the man in charge. Pelphrey left no doubt about it. And I have to admire him for manning up.

But wow, this season is going to go down as one of the biggest trainwrecks in the history of hog hoops. I think, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to sit back and turn on the “bemusement mode.” You just have to grin, bear it, and look forward to sunnier days.

Who knows? Maybe this is going to be the sort of shakeup the team needed going into Saturday’s game. Not likely, I admit. But it’s not like we had much of a chance anyway . . .

I can’t believe this. What is going on with this Arkansas Razorback Basketball? Does this team deserve the backing of their fans? Apparently not all of the players. Like I said on more than one blogs in the last few weeks why aren’t these players like Coach Sutton’s and Coach Richardson’s players.

Game, Set, Match. This season, despite starting so well, is becoming increasingly hard to swallow. I almost wish we could just forfeit our remaining games, if only to get it over with.

Any chance Roland Sales might suit up and play for us on Saturday? haha. Unlikely. But I hope that somebody will show that type of heart and that type of effort on Saturday.

Hey, how about this? The women (formerly Ladybacks) won their second SEC game in a row by beating South Carolina last night. Something positive from Fayetteville!

Good for Pelphrey. He’s right, win or lose, the discipline stays. However, I suppose a cynic might also say he has the luxury of doing this now, b/c absent winning the SEC tourney, we’re not going to be playing postseason ball anyways. But, that would be cynical, wouldn’t it? :)

Just an FYI, but Mr. Monk will officially not be retaking the floor inside Bud Walton Arena as a Hog any time soon.

And by anytime soon, I mean ever.
