Around SBN: Will Rhymes 'Fine' After Being Hit By Pitch And Fainting

What If?

Time for a game: If you could pick one player from last year's basketball team and place him on this year's squad, who would it be?

For me, the answer is easy: center Darian Townes. No, he wasn't the leading scorer on last year's team, and he only started eight of the team's 35 games. But, by the end of the year, he was a serious low-post threat. Of all of Heath's recruits, he seemed to respond the most to Pelphrey (or at least to someone on his staff).

Oh, how we could use him this year. Damn those pesky eligibility rules.

Well, if the NCAA would just adopt my plan as outlined in a previous comment, haha, then we could have him! Personally, I would love to see Sunny Weems do some more dunking in a Razorback uniform. But I defer to more knowledgeable basketball people than myself about who would be best for this team. I just loved seeing Sonny slam dunk a ball.

Ah, I have to agree with Stephen. Darian would be so sweet on this team.

But, can I have two players? Cuz I think we need more than just one . . .

I’ll refer back to my previous post: Dwight Stewart is the one man who can save the Hogs.

(and yes, I know he didn’t play on last year’s team)

This team has more holes than one player can fill, but I’d take Weems.

If I had to go with just one player from last season, it would definately have to be Darian Townes.
We are weak inside when Washinton is in foul trouble, so this would add much needed depth.
Also, with both of them in the starting lineup, we would have a double scoring threat inside, better rebounding, and better overall defense.

On the flipside, Sonny Weems would be a great addition also, especially when he could be considered that other component we’ve beem missing from this team; A tall SG/SF, who can drain the 3.
I would still stay Darian might edge him out though.

Gonzo,

With Townes on the team, Washington could, at times, act like a SF. He’s got the skills to do so. Unfortunately, we don’t have the luxury of allowing him to do that this year.

When I read the question, Darian Townes immediately came to mind! Sonny Weems was way fun to watch, and would add some fun to this year, but it was gratifying to watch Darian Townes respond to coaching.
At the end of last year, I thought, “One more year…” would be great for him. Didn’t know we would need it so much, too.

I don’t know, for me it’s a tie between Levan Patsasia and Gary Ervin. Something about this team just tells me they’d be a lot better with a European shooter or a really fast point guard.

I would possibly pick Charles Thomas, especially if it could be the Charles Thomas of 2 years ago. But I think that we would need someone that was that aggressive but also smart enough not to commit stupid fouls.

Darian Townes though would have profited the most from another year with Pel.
