We will soon put the Florida loss behind us (maybe), but before we do, we wanted to get your answer to the following question. As always, please chime in in the comments thread.

Tennessee

That was a worse loss, because we were 8-0 and had we won, we would have had plenty of momentum for a possible NC.

Not to mention that the game was practically over, if not for the fumble.

yeah, to me there is no comparison. that game had national championship implications. if we had won, we would have played them again in a few weeks for the sec championship.

this game, while painful, is simply part of growing pains.

Agreed. It would have been great to have beaten Florida, but that wouldn’t define our program like a win in that Tennessee game could have. I mean, Ole Miss beat #1 Florida last year, and look at them now. I’d obviously rather let Florida have this one, continue to improve, and beat them next year in the SEC championship (even if they’re only ranked #10 or something). Beating #1 is great, but rankings are such Hogwash anyway, that I’d much rather win a game that had actual meaning.

Not even close in my book...

I’m still sick over this Florida game, don’t get me wrong, but the Tennessee loss still hurts after 11 YEARS! The manner in which we lost right down to the implications the game carried.

I think it would have been interesting to see the AP poll the following week had we won that game vs TN. You had an undefeated team, from the same conference (implying, at least in theory, that the SOSs were similar), going on the road and beating the top-ranked team. I think we would have gotten votes, but not enough to propel us to the top spot, even though every ounce of reason and logic says that we should have been. I’ll never understand why so many outsiders get off on shitting in Arkansas’ oatmeal (another case in point: last Saturday… and the list could go on ad nauseum).

Alas, we didn’t beat TN that day, so this diatribe is an incredibly moot point.

This loss is nowhere near

the UT loss. Arkansas had the UT game in the bag…..this was a hard fought game that could have gone either way. Unfortunately it went the way of the Gators.

I was proud of the way Arkansas played Florida. I see them in the SEC championship game next year. Especially if the defense stays solid. Mallett will only get better. Arkansas goes bowling this year and destroys Lil Siss next week. DESTROYS the Nuttbag and his overated team.

The REAL loss to #1 that hurt...

Texas December 6, 1969. I have hated those puke-orange cow worshipers for 4 years over that game. We lost a national championship over that one!
