Not a Surprise: Morgan State 97, Arkansas 94
This outcome is not at all shocking - not only because Arkansas is short-handed and struggling, but because Morgan State is a good team. Forget the lack of name recognition: The Golden Bears lost by only nine points to Louisville in Freedom Hall - that would be the same Louisville team that drilled the Hogs by 30 on a neutral court. Last season, Morgan State made the NCAA Tournament and beat Maryland on the road.
Living in Atlanta, I didn't get to see or listen to the game. Would love to hear the comments of those that did.
Breathe deeply, folks.

Weak finish
Mrs. Knight and I listened to it on the radio.
Morgan State was strong at the end even with two starters fouled out, making all their free throws down the stretch. Clarke made two three pointers in last 15 seconds and missed another one at the buzzer to make it close.
Two key possessions late:
Arkansas called a timeout, but for some reason, the refs would not let them substitute Clarke for Welsh, who is no longer suspended. So naturally, Welsh ends up taking a bad shot and Morgan State gets the rebound and goes down and scores.
Shortly after that Nobles either threw the ball away or had it stripped for another easy basket for Morgan State.
Powell was a monster in the first half, but a non-factor in the second half.
Offensive rebounds killed us (15-5). Morgan State had 20 second chance points to 5 for Arkansas.
Not to keep harping on this, but the DoG pointed out this morning that Washington is currently averaging half as many rebounds as last year.

Suspend Welsh Again, please
Welsh was back alright but nothing changed from last year. Made a few nice plays but they were overshadowed by his drives to the basket in heavy traffic or tossing up 3’s when he should give it up to someone else.
You hit it right on the head Stephen. This was a much better team than name recognition would lead you to believe. They had a deep bench but more importantly, they killed us with their free throws down stretch. We still should have beat and had chances.
Nobles is a really good point guard, especially for a freshman. He was not as good last night as the other games but still pretty impressive. Powell is a true hog…..literally. Awesome to watch.
I live in Omaha and don’t start getting games until ESPN Full Court or ESPN1 or 2 starts picking them up (usually closer to SEC games) but I’ve watched every game so far on Razorvision for just $9.95/mo. and you can pay one month at at time. Pretty good deal.
