The Boot

We here at Arkansas Expats, Inc will be the first to admit that the whole concept of the Boot is a little contrived, but we're also not so cynical that we can't enjoy it. After all, it's hard to deny the goofy appeal of a ginormous trophy that's shaped like the states of Arkansas and Louisiana stacked on top of each other.

And, it's even harder to deny its appeal when the Hogs have claimed the Boot for two years running now. Keeping it in the Natural State for a third year would be pretty sweet, huh?

What's your take on the Boot?

I agree that it is quite contrived and a bit silly; however, that has not stopped me from enjoying the concept. I think it’s hilarious and a good source of material for jabs at my Cajun friends. I can’t imagine riding around in a car after long days at Jazzfest wearing a hog hat and yelling out the window “we’ve beat you tigers 2 years in a row!” But I sure as hell was riding around in a car after long days at Jazzfest wearing a hog hat and yelling out the window “We got that boot!”

I like it.

It’s no more contrived than any other college football trophy, except for those have been around a lot longer. Tradition’s got to start somewhere, though.

The boot is pretty cool.

We don"t have any other close rivals (hating Texas just won"t do) so i kinda like having the boot. I’m alittle peeved about moving the game to saturday. The hogs and tigers have put on a good show for the past 13 years on friday and here comes espn moving the whole thing to saturday just so they can show a boring iron bowl.

so much more than the wave of the Go Hogs spell out at half time.

Agree

with everyone here, especially dxf04. I think it’s an attractive enough trophy. We just have to get our program up to the same level it used to be so the rivalry is recognized as legit

We Need a Arch-Rival

We need an arch-rival. Texas, being such an infrequent opponent is not a rival. Texas doesn’t view us as a rival. Living in Austin I realize how little the Longhorns view us as a rival. Oklahoma and Texas A&M are the teams they hate. Arkansas is an after-thought. I am hopeful that the Ole Miss game will become what it used to be and I do think that the LSU game is on its way. But rivalries take time. Beating LSU on Saturday would be extremely sweet.
