Q&A: Talking LSU With...Well, Nobody
Normally this is the point when we give you the inside scoop on the upcoming opponent courtesy of a Q&A exchange with our fellow SEC bloggers. However, our usually well-oiled machine has hit a slight snag.
Unfortunately, we contacted the folks at And the Valley Shook a couple of times earlier in the week and never heard back from them. Also, as of about 24 hours before game time they haven't put up a single Arkansas-related post this week, leading us to believe they may have been studying at the Les Miles school of time management.
Anyway, we'll just post the questions we would have asked and will count on you guys to answer them in the comments section. If any LSU fans happen to drift through these parts, we'd love to get your take, too.
Five questions after the jump:
1. Just how pissed is the LSU fanbase at Les Miles? Is there any chance that he's coaching for his job this week?
2. How will the ending to LSU-Ole Miss affect this week's game? Is it a harmful distraction or a circle-the-wagons rallying point for the players and coaches?
3. The Arkansas defense is notoriously weak, but the LSU offense has been decimated by injuries over the past few weeks. What's your strategy for attack?
4. On the flip side, Ryan Mallett and the Arkansas offense have been red hot during the current four game winning streak. What's your strategy for slowing them down?
5. Lastly, what's your prediction for the outcome?

I'll play based on my LSU friends.
1. Still pissed. We are basing our firing by studying the time delay’s used by school’s such as Miami, Tennessee, Florida State (too early?) etc. We may get rid of him with the same arrogance that Nebraska had when they were only winning 8 or 9 games per year and that was not acceptable.
2. It should not influence this week’s game because we are working hard on blocking it out of our memory. Alcohol helps, we have plenty in Louisiana.
3. We rushed for 40 yards last week. We would appreciate a long run from scrimmage as we understand the Hogs give up a minimum number of them per game.
4. Time management.
5. We will win by 50. I know, I know: “what about the last 2 years?” We are trying to block that out like bad time management and Ryan Perrilloux.
Hogs win: 45-25.

As an LSU fan
1. Of course we’re pissed. That was a terrible coaching job at the end of the game, and everyone knows that. That being said, only the delusional and super-pessimistic fans are calling for Miles’ head.
2. I think that it will actually help LSU. After the game all of the LSU players talked about how much they respected Miles for stepping up and taking all of the blame, and they all mentioned how they thought he shouldn’t have, because the game wasn’t lost in the last minute. I think they’ll rally around Miles and play hard for him.
3. LSU’s injuries at this point are mainly just to their running backs (the top 3 RB’s to start the season are now out for the year). They still have some talent at RB though, with Stevan Ridley, who was actually expected to be the starter after Scott got hurt, Holliday, and Shepard. I think you’ll see a lot less runs up the middle, and more fly sweeps and end arounds, etc. in the running game. The passing game shouldn’t be too much different, although we may do it more.
4. Patrick Peterson has absolutely shut down AJ Green and Julio Jones this year (they have good yardage totals, but Jones didn’t catch a ball when Peterson was on him, and Green only had 2 catches for under 20 yards I think), so I think we can take away one receiver. Chad Jones is a pretty good safety, but SS Brandon Taylor and the other corner, Chris Hawkins/Jai Eugene, are pretty much just average players, placeholders. Our linebackers are very fast, and I think that if we can make you one dimensional we could just ignore the run and tee off on the pass rush, you’ll be in trouble.
5. 35-24 LSU. I think LSU’s gonna come out pissed off and fired up, throwing the ball a lot, and they’ll put up a lot of points. I don’t think we’ll completely shut down your guys’ offense, but we’ll make you earn everything you get, and hopefully make you one dimensional.
