Your Take: Which Player Was the Hogs' 2009 MVP?

Following up from our earlier polls about your favorite win and most painful loss of 2009, we now turn our focus to the players. Specifically, which Razorback was the MVP of the 2009 team?

Our suspicion is that this will be pretty close to unanimous, but for the sake of science we're going to play it out. Cast your vote below, and if you have more to say please share your thoughts in the comments section.

For the sake of fairness...

…I should mention that I meant to add LB Jerry Franklin to the list (he was the leading tackler) but left him out by mistake. The intern responsible for this has been fired, but if you want to vote for him just add a comment letting us know.

Can the intern come back to work?

If he agrees to be tackled by Jerry Franklin before assuming his duties again? Haha. As great as Franklin was, his mistake in the Georgia game cost us the mighty “mo” when we were about to put a big nail in Georgia’s coffin. Like the others, I voted Ryan Mallett. This is not the same team without his thirty touchdowns.

Said a Different Way

Who would you least like to lose from your roster? 100% would answer Mallett. Otherwise, let’s all vote for the intern in question.

With an offense that was this smokin'...

It’s hard to pick just one. The QB-WR relationship is symbiotic. Mallett doesn’t look good without sure-handed targets, the receivers don’t look good if Mallett can’t get them the ball. Dennis Johnson, I think, will turn out to be one of the more versatile players on the roster. In fact, I think his special teams contributions will overshadow his RB contributions, considering the RB-by-committee approach that we’re taking.
Now, about that defense…

Optimism

Yeah, gotta vote for Mallett although Petrus and Childs were tempting. (No Tejada on the list?).
When looking at the list, I think about the incredible throws that Mallett hit and also the short dumps early in the year that Mallett couldn’t seem to hit. I think about how great Childs and Adams were perfect at times and I also think about a few times when we had a few missed catches and games (Alabama) where we were off.
It leaves me thinking one thing: With slight improvements by everyone, holy cats, next year should be so great!
I saw from one voter that Mallett is getting a Heisman vote (3rd). Sweet.
