Predictions for the season/A&M game?
Welcome to the SBNation. Your blog looks great! You guys are doing a great job and are a great addition.
Just curious as to the expectations for your upcoming football season. Are y'all expecting a bowl? Division or conference championship? What aere your thoughts on the A&M game at Jerryworld? How are tickets selling up there?
Right now there are too many questions from both teams for me to get a handle on the game. I expect A&M to be much improved over last year, but have no idea how many wins that will translate to. Right now I have the A&M vs Arkansas game as a tossup.

Arkansas 35-24
However, I haven’t really researched A&M. Our problems last year were depth and qb play. We should be much improved in those.

National championship or bust!
That was a joke, by the way.
We’ll have our official season predictions up in a few weeks, so I don’t want to spoil the surprise. But I do think the A&M game will be really key to how the rest of the year goes – if we win, then we’re on the right track. If not – problems.
And thanks for the kind words!

Hey, I really believe that all true fans have in the back of their mind rationalized a way for their team to win the national title in the upcoming season no matter what the results from last year was. That is part of being a fan. No reason to apologize for dreaming of a national title.
I have just read a couple of magazines so do not have good take on your team. I know you are supposed to have a heck of a RB. I know Mallett has a bigtime arm and should be an improvement over the Dick brothers. You still have the TE from Springdale and I do not know how we are going to cover him. If he split out most of the time or does he play on the line? How do your WRs look? What about your front 7? Our OL sucked last year and we could not run the ball on anyone. If Mallett is just decent, we should struggle to stop your offense. Our best bet would be to run the ball to keep your offense on the sideline, but we could not last year and may not be able to this year. We shall see how it all goes down.

Our TE almost always is on the line. Our WRs look great. I think we have alot of depth there. Our front 7 isnt as good as they need to be but are improving. I know that our OL sucked last year too allowing 46 sacks. I also read that A&M’s offense has alot of returning players

We have more experience and depth.
Last season, I think our achillis heal was more due to Bobby Petrino’s new system than anything else. Not having very much depth and relying on so many True Freshmen only made the situation a near disaster.
Bobby Petrino knows how to win, and the fact that we were close to being a bowl team last season, (Kentucky debacle) even as weak as our team was, proves to me we have the right coach in place for future sucsess.
I think the biggest improvements for this team lye’s in the hands of our O-lines/D-lines.
If Ronnie Wingo proves to be that big back/game breaker Petrino believes him to be, the Hogs will suprise a lot of people this season.
Even with improvements in those areas though, the Hogs could still negate sucsess with inconsistansy from the QBs.
As talented as they may be, they’re still unproven as leaders on the field.
The confidence I have in Bobby Petrino tells me we’ll be ok, but I wouldn’t start holloring for SEC Western Division Titles anytime soon.
Ole Miss will be good for at least one more year, while Alabama and LSU always seem to have elite recruiting classes year in and year out.

A close game
I think the Texas A&M game will be a close one for the Hogs, but one in which they prevail by some quirk. But one thing A&M has going for them is that the Hogs are playing in a dome environment, and history doesn’t favor the Hogs in domes. I just hope it is a nice day and Jerry keeps the roof open.

we beat ATM
I just graduated from Arkansas this May and I had the opportunity to play pick up basketball with Ryan Mallett at the HPER. He is a freak of an athlete and I think Hog fans are going to be surprised how big of an impact he has on next season being able to throw to receivers like Childs, Adams, Crawford and the TE Williams. Plus with a healthy Smith and USC transfer at RB, I’m thinking the Hogs win 7 or 8 games, go to a bowl game, and beat ATM in Jerryworld. I’m looking forward to it cuz I all ready got tickets. Should be a good game tho.
