This Is Getting Absurd: TV Reports Say Stefan Welsh Has Been Indefinitely Suspended
Via two excellent sites - The Slophouse and ArkansasSports360 - we just learned that a Fayetteville TV station is reporting that senior-to-be Stefan Welsh has been suspended indefinitely from the Razorback basketball team for an undisclosed reason. (Maybe Coach Pelphrey just decided the day wasn't complete if he didn't suspend someone?)
Welsh joins junior-to-be Marcus Britt on the indefinite suspension list. Britt was arrested for DUI earlier this summer.
The news about Welsh comes only days after Jason Henry became the fourth member of last year's six-player recruiting class to leave Fayetteville, and it comes after two seasons in which the Hogs seemingly played every game with at least one player suspended.
Honestly, it's just head spinning.
At this point, you've got to wonder if the problem is more Pelphrey and his staff than it is the players. I don't purport to know the answer but I can't help but worry that our coach is too much of a hard ass or that he may be in over his head (or both).
Time will tell, but it's hard for me to recall a time when I've been less enthused about the basketball program.

You know what I heard
I have sources that say that John Pelphrey has just kicked himself off the team. Haha. Why stop with players? Seriously, if this keeps going on he might just be kicking himself out of a job. I sure hope someday we’ll look back and say, “You remember when we went through all those suspensions and kids leaving the program? I guess we had to go through that to get where we are today.” That’s when we all think about our recent final four appearance. But we are so far away from that now. So far away.

It’s hard for me to believe that “it’s more Pelphrey and his staff than it is the players”. Of course, maybe the chemistry isn’t there, but it’s not like these guys are getting suspended for nothing. Most of these guys are in their 20s, so it might be time for them to grow up. The old excuse of “they’re college kids” doesn’t cut it anymore, considering some of these guys have kids of their own.

Too True
I can’t believe these young men. I am younger than they are and I am so much more mature. You would think the training and hours that go into being an athlete at a major program, any sport and any school, would make these guys grow up. But it seems like more and more are making mistakes, many of them messing up more than once and not learning from their mistakes. It’s a shame. I do not blame this on Pelphrey. If they are not mature enough to respect that he is their coach and he makes the calls then they can move on and i won’t shed any tears. Maybe they’ll see how good it was with the Razorbacks.

“… but it’s hard for me to recall a time when I’ve been less enthused about the basketball program.”
Yep. That sums it up perfectly.
“We do wish he’d taken the time to recommend a Mexican restaurant or two for out-of-town visitors, though.”
Vintage Expats. Hilarious.
“… [in] July, SEC content to blog about can be about as hard to find as a cable news channel without any Michael Jackson coverage.”
When will it end?!?

I have to believe that this is the players being knuckleheads, not Pelphrey
I may be biased……since he was one of The Unforgetables…..
