Partying Like It's 2008: Alabama 35, Arkansas 7

Someday, when Bobby has the Hogs competing for SEC championships and wreaking havoc on the national scene, we'll all look back at games like today and laugh.

At least that's what I keep telling myself. It's the only way to cope with bloodlettings like this afternoon's (well, that and my favorite cocktail of grain alcohol and Benadryl).

I guess it's no egregious sin to get your head handed to you by the No. 3 team in the country, but that doesn't make it any easier to watch. Today brought back extremely unpleasant memories of last September, when the Hogs got their asses thoroughly kicked by Alabama, Texas and Florida.

Much football to be played, but I've been disappointed in the team so far. More commentary to come tomorrow and Monday, but in the meantime, tell us what you think: Are you disappointed in the season so far? What do you think is in store for the rest of 2009? Do you think John Smith and Willy Robinson should be allowed to cash their paychecks?

Ouch. In an effort to make last two games to be a distant memory right now, (and to quote Kyle King over at dawgsports), “Holy smoking barbecue in a wire basket!” Those Tennessee cheerleaders are the hottest in the SEC.

VERY disappointed in the team so far.

I’m not gonna say too much about the game. Everyone here knows what happened. I guess I just, at this point, would like to be a little closer than 28 points to people. I don’t care if they are Alabama and ranked #3. We were blown out, again, and I really thought we were beyond being blown out. Guess not.

Before I digress too much, the point I came here to make, or rather, the question I came here to ask, is this: Did anyone beside me notice that Crim’s jersey was different than everyone else’s? His was the “red armpit” version of the road whites, as opposed to the “red ass tusks” version. I’m probably making a bigger deal of it than should be made, and most people could probably care less, but I think that’s Bush League. Total Bush League.

VERY disappointed to this point. But I won’t give up.

crim number 4

since jarius wright also wears number 4, maybe crim got the left-over number 4. it is bush league to have two guys with the same number. i have no idea who approved that.

Mallet

He looked like a different person than last week. How does the tallest quarterback in the country keep getting passes tipped?

Not looking promising

There are three facets to the game of football. Offense, defense, and special teams.

When you’re bad at two of them and only marginally good at one of them (a one dimensional offense) then you’re not going to win many football games.

I’m disheartened by what I’ve seen thus far.

There's no doubt you guys have every right to be disappointed, but

we still have 3rd year, RS Sophs., True Sophs., RS Fresh., and True Freshman still dominating the 2 and 3 deep rotation on this squad.
There are very, very few Jrs. and Srs. we can rely on for leadership at this point of the rebuilding process.
Everytime I hear someone say “I’m tired of saying wait until next season”, I grit my teeth, because frankly, that’s what we had to put up with from the old regime for 10 friggin years.
Right now, we have to continue to say that for a while until these players have some actual SEC playing experience.
We’re not as bad as we were a year ago, otherwise, we would’ve had to come from behind in the 4th qr. to beat Missouri St., and there’s no way in hell we score 41 points on Georgia.
Alabama has a very dominating defense, and it should suprise knowone that they were able to intimidate, confuse, and simply take us out of any rythem we were trying to maintain on the road. No excuses, just the facts.
Texas A&M is no Alabama. Their defense is probably not even as good as the Hogs is, and the edge would still have to go to the Hogs on offense as well, just because our QB and WRs are better. Wait and see.
