A Brief Return to Happier Times

We'll soon return to talking about the Hogs' steadily imploding basketball season, but we're just not up to it this evening. Instead, we'd rather think about happier times.

When we need a lift, we think of Dwight. And when we think of Dwight, we often think of the beyond-half-court-bomb shown below.

The setting: the 1995 national semifinal victory over North Carolina. The audio and video in this clip are showing a little wear and tear, but the memories will never fade.

Wow

I didn’t remember the shot being so far back. Yes, Dwight is the man!! Hopefully U of Memphis will decline so we can tap that recruiting territory and get another D Stewart!

I remember!

I was camped behind enemy lines at the time, attending grad school at UNC for most of the 1990’s, which made for interesting times, especially in the 1990-1995 glory years. I vividly remember Woody Durham, voice of the Tarheels, with his call of the shot—he’d already taken to calling Dwight “the Dough Boy”—“And the Dough Boy makes it from beyond half court!”

Thanks for that walk down memory lane, Steve. That's super.

Clarksville Hog, you’ll be glad to know that Woody has gone completely senile. He can’t remember his own players’ names, much less what he called Dwight Stewart.
