Crazy Night in Georgia: Arkansas 72, Georgia 68

As I said earlier today, I never had a moment's doubt that the Hogs would win this game. No sir, I knew all along that we had this one in the bag.

A hearty congrats to John Pelphrey's crew for winning their second consecutive SEC road game. They did it the hard way, digging themselves a 15-point halftime deficit and playing the waning minutes with Fortson, Washington and Powell each having four fouls.

But as was the case against Mississippi State and Ole Miss, these guys didn't scare when the going got tough. Fortson was undoubtedly the player of the game, but Powell and Washington each shook off shaky first halves to turn in solid efforts. And he may not have lit up the stat sheet, but a special tip of the hat should be extended to Stef Welsh, long the favorite whipping boy of Hog fans. He came up with a couple of big steals in the second half, and I thought he played outstanding defense all night.

It feels downright weird to say this about this team after the last year and a half, but all of a sudden, they appear to be a tough and poised crew. Maybe it's just a three-game thing. Or maybe not. Maybe they have finally turned the corner.

Now, armed with their first winning conference record in two years, the Hogs head back to Bud Walton to take on Auburn. Woo Pig Sooie!

Be nice if they came out ready to play in the 1st half.

But we are offically tied for 1st in the West as of right now. Who’d have thunk it from this team huh? Go Hogs!

WPS!!

Think how confident we will be when we win the next 6 (Auburn, LSU, Alabama, SC, Auburn, LSU)! We may be sitting at 10-3 in conference play! Whoa Nelly!

If only

we could replay four or five non-conference games.

Here they go again.

Those Hogs just love to set us up for disappointment.

Oh, man, was that negative. I am a positive person in every other aspect of life…..really, I am! What is it about being a Hog fan that makes me so freaking pessimistic.

Okay, I’m over it. The hogs are going to win out in conference, then sweep through the SEC tourney, beating UK in triple overtime for the crown. NCAA look out!

There’s some positive thinking for ya!

Flash in the pan or legit?

I agree that the Hogs still have the ability, or lack thereof, to dissappoint us. The next 6 games will tell us alot regarding whether the last three games have been a result of a lucky streak or whether they have really turned a corner. Two questions that should be answered are:Can the Hogs win games that they should win ( a new challenge for this bunch) and Can they p lay a full game? These double-digit comebacks aren’t the easiest way to win, how about jumping out to 10 pt lead and never relinquishing it. Again we will see soon enough. It is still really fun to watch this team because you can say to yourself “oh, they are so young”; next year that won’t be the case.

The Night the Lights went out in Georgia

When I saw the score last night on ESPN with Arkansas in the winning gold color, my first thought was, “Stephen has to be happy with that.” I am happy too! But like others have pointed out, the second half rally isn’t how you want to try to win all your games. Get up on them, keep scoring, and don’t falter down the stretch. That is what I hope we see more of here in the near future with these supposedly easier teams coming up.
