SEC Hoops Power Poll Ballot: Week Five

SEC Hoops Power Poll Logo

Below is our ballot for the most recent SEC Hoops Power Poll. We may have the Hogs placed a little too low for some of y'all's liking, but we're not quite convinced that they truly are the best team in the West. We would love to proven wrong, but for now, we're voting cautiously. Also, we're afraid of jinxing them.

1. Kentucky
2. Tennessee
3. Vanderbilt
4. Florida
5. Ole Miss
6. Mississippi State
7. South Carolina
8. Arkansas
9. Alabama
10. Georgia
11. Auburn
12. LSU

Where is the love?

8? We just dismantled (verb choice may not be good) Georgia and Auburn who are … also in your poll.
We have not lost since Kentucky, which I am sure has them feeling lucky.
My upper range would be 1, my lower range would be 5ish… or 7.
Man, I hope we win the next 5 and gain some confidence before we hit the final 3.
Go Hogs!!!!

Let's keep 'em at 8.

Until they do something really impressive. A little underestimation on our part never hurt anyone.

Are we that good?

A few months ago Ark Expats did an interview with a sports statistician that said based upon the Hog’s SEC statistics last season, they should have won around 5 SEC games as opposed to the 2 they actually won. Perhaps the opposite phenomenon is happening this year, we are defying the statistics and winning more than we should. We will know soon enough if this is a fluke or not. Until then I’m going to keep the perspective that we are being compensated for those 2-3 wins we “deserved” last year and didnt get. Let’s see if we can play a complete game tonight. Go Hogs!

Now that we have

played a complete game, what would you do different in terms of the rankings?

Nothing.

Because it was just LSU.
But that’s just me.

I put y'all at 6.

I think that’s a better spot right now.

I am not sure

I would have them in the top 12 teams in Pulaski County. I think 6 is about right for the Hogs. I really think that if we can get to 18 wins before the SEC tournament, it will take a really good win and maybe 2 wins in the tournament to get into the NCAA’s. What do you guys think.

We need to get a “quality” win against Tenn and/or Vandy and get to 11-5 in the conf. Its big that we get a 1 seed in the tourney so we wouldnt have to play Kentucky until the champ. Making it to the SEC champ game then would give us 20 wins and make us a strong bubble team, but still a bubble team. We will see, that is a tall order for any team. Making it to the the NIT final four would be a good motivator for next season, but you never know we could make a 10-12 NCAA seed if we get lucky.

That's an intesting point...

Would a deep run in the NIT be better for us than one-and-done in the Dance, especially since we’re such a young team? I know the NCAA is more “prestigious”, but would we maybe be better off playing a few more games, even if it is against NIT teams?
