It's Finally Time: Your Official Arkansas-Tennessee Tech Game Thread

Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at Arkansas Razorbacks, Sep 4, 2010 6:00 PM CDT

After an offseason that lasted approximately 50 months, it's football time at last!

Keeping with our usual tradition, this post is the place to weigh in with your commentary and observations throughout the game. It's not on TV, even as pay-per-view, where I live (shockingly, Arkansas-Tennessee Tech wasn't considered a major draw in the SF Bay Area) so I'll be checking in here and reading what you have to say to see what's going on.

Also, enjoy this inspirational season-starting video that was forwarded to us by our own KevinHog.

WPS!

Found the Game Online

Greetings from Sunday morning in Melbourne, Australia.

This Arkansas Expat should found the game streaming online at Justin.tv here:

It’s pretty choppy, but I’ll take it.

Go Hogs, Beat…whoever this is.

Sweet Redemption

Looks to me that there’s a lot of experimentation in the playcalling right now. Same thing Petrino did last year. He knows they can go down the field, but he wants to see how sweeps, short drops to the flats, and check-downs go. It seems slow and underwhelming, given the expectations, but things will speed up when the kinks are ironed out.

That said

The O-line needs to wake up.

Secondary-More like SecondSCARY

It’s not enough to be more aggressive and disruptive, which they certainly seem to be, if your coverage keeps the “prevent” mindset.

Adams should be a big star.

He’s the most Free Darko-like Razorback.

Looking Pretty Good

The JSU-Ole Miss game, where former Hog coache Jack Crowe beat former Hog coach Houston Nutt was yet another example of why games like this make us so nervous.

Once the offence got going, felt much better – lots to be excited about this year despite a crappy 1st quarter.

BTW, Crowe must feel a bit odd coaching a D-2 school (or whatever they are called now) beating an SEC school at its home opener – since he was run out of the state when that happened to him at Arkansas.

Thank God for Slingbox and a buddy with ESPN GamePlan.

I've gone native

Been in Oz for nearly five years now, and have to write in the Kings English for work – forget which way to spell sometimes.

It’s wasn’t quite 3 am Tuesday, but the 6 pm CDT kickoff was 10 am Sunday morning here in Australia. Those early day games are very early here – but a little better once the US gets off DST and we switch on. Still worth it though.
