Some Depressing Stats, Some Inspiring Stats

Stay connected for news and updates

• Chris Bahn of AS360 recently combed through the record book and came up with these depressing stats: the basketball Razorbacks have suffered 12 losses by 30 or more points since the start of the 1960-61 season, and five of those defeats have occurred during the John Pelphrey era. As we know all too well, two of those defeats have taken place this month.

Ouch.

• On a positive note, recruiting guru Richard Davenport of WholeHogSports notes that guard B.J. Young of St. Louis, the most highly ranked member of John Pelphrey's well-regarded recruiting class of 2011, is averaging 30.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 6.21 assists and 2.26 steals a game. Young is shooting nearly 68 percent from inside the three-point line and nearly 42 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

On another happy note, power forward Devonta Abron of Dallas, another member of next year's recruiting class, scored 41 points and had 20 rebounds in a game this past weekend, Davenport says. The game before that, Abron totaled 27 points and 11 rebounds, according to Davenport.
