Arkansas Razorback Football Trivia: Disco Version
Readers, this will be the last trivia question from me for the summer. Fall practice starts this week, so it is time to start focusing in more on the present season that we've all been waiting to get here since the moment Ryan Mallett's last pass as a Hog was intercepted. For this last trivia question, I thought it would be apropos to go with how another season started, the 1977 season, still our best season since the 1964 season in terms of how it ended, and one we would like to see out done by the 2011 season. So get out your disco boots, put on your bell bottoms and polyster, and turn your attention to the fall of 1977. Dance on over to the first comment to see the correct answer.

The answer is -
A) The pass was intercepted by New Mexico State. No fear, the Hogs went on to crush their opponent that night, the season was a great one, and Lou Holtz went on to have a good career as our coach. Something to think about when during the first games of this season the Hogs trip over themselves a time or two, as I expect they will. And as I am always looking for good signs, haha, I see a team from New Mexico is due in Little Rock again on September the 10th!
But the play still got a cheer
Fans were excited that Holtz was showing it wasn’t going to be conservative run it up the middle football any more.

I was going to say the same thing. CFB had just retired, and I was I sick of his conservative play calling (1-2-3-kick cha cha cha). We were eager to see what Coach Holtz would do. It felt like a profound moment as the Hogs came out and lined up for that first play of the post-Broyles era. When Holtz called a pass play on first down – on first down!! we could hardly believe our eyes – it was a beautiful sight, despite the wrong guy catching the pass. It was exciting. Lou was sending us a message of hope.
Thanks guys
for your personal accounts. I had read that in the hog history tomes that the play got a big cheer for it being a pass.
