Rules for fans of programs searching for a new head coach

In the new era of Internet "news" and everybody and their brother's dog having a Sports Blog. I present you with ten simple rules for fans of programs searching for a new head coach:

  1. NEVER BELIEVE rumors on the Twitter-verse.
  2. If a rumor is floated by a fringe sports blog it is probably not true.
  3. If a Regional or National sportswriter or publication is using a fringe sports blog as its source, then it is probably not true.
  4. Do not repeat rumors listed above, as they are not true.
  5. The only people that know something are the people that are not talking.
  6. Spreading false rumors does not increase your credibility, neither does commenting on them.
  7. Spreading untrue rumors makes you and your program look bad.
  8. Agents and fans for other programs will "float" rumors to better their coach/program at the expense of the one doing the search. Look at the real source of the rumor to determine if it has any truth in it.
  9. You will know who the next coach is when the administration announces it. You are wasting too much time trying to figure out beforehand who the hire will be. (If your opinion mattered, you would probably be involved in the selection process)
  10. NEVER BELIEVE rumors on the Twitter-verse.
