The Hogs on Jersey's Shores? Possibly
I thought we needed a topic besides last night's basketball game to end the day with here, so I went hunting for some Razorback news and came across this report from Chris Bahn and company that the UofA is close to reaching a deal with Rutgers for a home and home series. This will complete the 2012 schedule, with I am assuming the first game of the series being a home game in Fayetteville. In 2013 the Hogs would play in New Jersey, hopefully early in the year. Have the Hogs ever played that far north before? Not in recent memory, I can say that. Though I was hoping for a bigger name to fill out the season, I'll take Rutgers, which has come along in respectability in recent years and is not some directional school from a non BCS conference. But that's my opinion. Answer our poll with your take on Rutgers being the final team on our schedule in the year the Hogs win the national championship. Thinking positive here! And it would be fitting, for college football itself began with Princeton vs. Rutgers in 1869. You don't automatically think of college football when you think of New Jersey, but the Garden State is where it was born.

In the fall of 1994,...
We were defending NCs, ranked pre-season #1 and visiting UMass.
They had a guy named John Calipari coaching that team and literally stomped our ever lovin behinds on national television that night.
That’s pretty far north, right?
I should have been more specific.
I meant just the football team. I can’t remember the football team ever playing that far north.
Literally?
I don’t remember Marcus Canby jumping up and down on Corliss Williamson’s buttocks. Maybe you should check out what “literally” means.
Not too excited about this....
The main reason to set up home and home series with teams from outside the conference is to expand your recruiting presence. I don’t envision Arkansas having a strong recruiting presence in NJ even if we played Rutgers for the next 10 years. I’d prefer to play an opponent closer to Arkansas; there are lots of possibilities in the ACC, Big 10, Big 12. Also, teams can gain national exposure by setting up non-conference games that attract TV viewers, but I don’t imagine this matchup achieving that.
On the other hand, I live in NY and would definitely be at the 2013 game. Go Hogs!
They wanna play in New Brunswick?
While I won’t allow myself to put too much stock in the ‘recruit rankings’ (BMFP turns underrated players into winning Hogs), the power of those coveted 4 and 5 star recruits combined with good coaching is undeniable when we bump up against Alabama and LSU. ESPN has compiled their top 25 recruiting classes for 2012 and the Razorbacks don’t make the cut, but Rutgers comes in at #24. They’re doing something right in New Brunswick.

Call it the Bin Ascolese effect
The Hogs know what they’re doing. New Jersey has some serious high school football. Don Bosco prep, anyone?

meh
This is a team that the Razorbacks should beat nine out of ten times.
For the majority of Football Fans across the country, a game vs Rutgers is a big Meh. I doubt any of the networks would move much to get the game.
I would have preferred to see some other BCS conference school
