His receivers? Not so much...
The NFL Draft is a few months away. Before the festivities in Radio City Music Hall get underway, ESPN's draft gurus--the veteran Mel Kiper Jr. and the young gun Todd McShay--prepare by watching hours upon hours of game film so that when Mr. Irrelevant is picked with the 32nd pick, in the seventh round by the Baltimore Ravens, they will be able to say at least a few words on the kid's game.
Hopefully, former Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson will be long off the board and on his way to his new home city (if taken early enough). But like I said the aforementioned draft gurus are hard at work and Todd McShay has been tweeting out some of his observations throughout the process.
On Monday, he reached Wilson's film, and after watching him for the last two-plus years as a fan, it is easy to understand McShay's sentiment. Here are a few of McShay's tweets:
3 gms into Ark QB Wilson tape study. 2 things stand out: 1.Excellent % on pressure drops. 2.Judas and Benedict Arnold are 2 of his top 3 WRs
I sound like an old man in the morning at Hardees talking high school football 'could-have-been's, but can you imagine if he had some semblance of an offensive line? No doubt this helps out "Judas" and "Benidict Arnold," too.
So impressed by Wilson's toughness.Hog-nation should have a great deal of respect for TW.He left it all on the field, man!
No argument there, any way, shape or form. He loved his team and left everything he had on the field.
Also impressed by Wilson's ability to make a variety of accurate throws from multiple platforms.
Some of this comes from the lack of offensive line. Without them blocking, Wilson was forced to throw in some awkward spots.
Here is all of the above McShay loved about Wilson in one pass against Ole Miss:
