Help me! I am getting run over by K-State fans
I work in North Dallas and I was trying to enjoy my lunch while at the Galleria today and I couldn't as every time I looked up I saw more people wearing their K-State garb. Yeah, I know that they don't have anything like the Galleria where they are but geeze, it was making it hard to enjoy my lunch. I had to make a run to the store that sells local college gear to see some good Hog stuff. (and no k-state stuff)
Don't count Arkansas out as National Championship contenders.
I posted this in the comments section of Acme Packing Company's "Late Night College Football Open Thread: Upset Weekend" story, and thought it would be worth reposting here.
Why is the BigXII (-4) getting so much love by the BcS computers?
The BcS computers regard the BigXII (-4) as the best conference. That alone shows that the BcS computers need a reformat and a reboot. The computers have Oklahoma State as their #1 team, Oklahoma #4 (tied with Boise State) Kansas State #10, Texas #11, and Baylor #19 makes no sense to me.
Missouri, your rival?
Mizzou fan here. My question your you , Arky fan, is simple. Do you see Mizzou as a rival (or at least good potential rival)?
As a Mizzou fan, I'm adjusting to the thought of life in the SEC, even though anybody can understand why somebody would jump the Big 12 (10) to join the SEC. One thing that would ease my mind is having a strong rivalry game. If Missouri ends up in the SEC, and specifically the SEC East, who is Missouri's rival?
Houston Nutt disciple reflects on times as Razorback QB and Ole Miss QB
Like Nutt, Clark Irwin was a title-winning quarterback at Little Rock Central High School who went on to play at the UA.
Unlike Nutt, though, he did not stay in coaching for long:
"At age 24, Clark Irwin finally has a normal life.
The Little Rock native works fairly normal hours, has plenty of time for his wife and parents and occasionally catches NFL games on TV. In the last eight months, he’s even found time to shoot hoops at Cammack Village’s park, not too far from the Foxcroft neighborhood where he grew up.
So far, so good with this normal adult life stuff.
The way Irwin sees it, he jumped into it just in time.
Until February, Irwin had essentially coached under Houston Nutt for half a decade. Irwin spent three years seeing spot action as a backup University of Arkansas quarterback and special teams player, but his real value was as an understudy to the coaches. He signaled plays to the offense and helped run passing drills with fellow quarterbacks Casey Dick and Mitch Mustain, both of whom were roommates at different times.
"I was getting my minor in graduate assistantship if you want to look at it that way," Irwin says.
He officially took that position in early 2009 after following Nutt to Oxford, Miss., where Nutt had started coaching Ole Miss the season before. There, Clark spent late summers and falls immersed in game planning, film study and practice seven days a week. "It’s almost like you can ever do enough," he says. Game days — with the crowds, the adrenaline and the constant in-game chess match between coaches — were the most fun part of it all."
He goes on to talk about his time as roommate of Casey Dick and Mitch Mustain as well as his take on his former mentor being on the hot seat these days:

Time to start chiming in on this!
Chip Brown at Orangebloods.com, on the subject of inviting teams to replace aTm in the Big 12-3:
"One Big 12 administrator said there continues to be interest in gauging Arkansas' potential interest in joining the Big 12"
Can we all, PLEASE, itemize below the 10,000 reasons why this is stupid?
I'll start:
Why would Arkansas want to replace a team in a conference who's disadvantages were so great that Texas A&M is willing to give up their annual TV payout, a multimillion dollar penalty, their most treasured rival and significant booster / legislative support in order to join our conference?
Beat that! Yyou have my toothless permission to cast as many scatological stones at Texas and The Big 12-3 as you like.
I'm trying to watch the Razorbacks on TV, any ideas?
Last year I was able to watch all but one game (I missed El Paso) thanks to my then new Direct TV subscription. I had to pay-per-view a few times and that set me back about $90 for three games. Living in Colorado, there just isn't much football except what ESPN and CBS show. Fox seems to think that tennis and racing are more important than college football (or so it was last year). So, do any of you have any tips or tricks for me?
Being a Direct TV guy I can buy their "Game Plan" package, but I have no way of knowing if the Razorbacks will be broadcasted. I really want to see the September 3rd Missouri opener and I have no way of knowing how to watch it without spending an arm and a leg, heck, after viewing the info at Arkansasrazorbacks.com I think it may only be available to Arkansas and Missouri people.
I would appreciate any help you can throw my way. :)
Arkansas Preview with Matt Jones of Hawgs Illustrated
I saw this on another message board, but there is a radio station in Tennessee that has been doing previews of the SEC teams for this season. They had Matt Jones of Hawgs Illustrated on with them recently. Here is the link to the site:

Has some decent information about them in it, plus his predictions for the season. Check it out.

Hog faithful gather in North Little Rock church, aren't disappointed
As if football wasn't already enough to get you excited, here comes ol' Mike Anderson and practically every other former Hog traipsing into Park Hill Baptist Church on Thursday night to get the masses fired up about the Return of Hawgball.
And firing up, they did. Blake Eddins got the action started by shooting from the hip regarding all kinds of hot button issues - as well as issues that have downgraded to tepid with the passage of time. God bless Blake and his willingness to stir it up!
On Rotnei Clarke:
Through all of this, Coach Anderson has never complained. He’s been the same Mike Anderson that recruited me and recruited some of ya’ll. He’s been humble, he’s gone to work and everything. He didn’t complain once, he didn’t pout. He dad didn’t call a CBSSports.com writer and say he’s gonna transfer to Gonzaga if he didn’t get his way and all that good stuff.
On Stan Heath:
Bequette discusses Oden's dismissal, Willy's surprising agility and the rarity of the elite white SEC d-lineman
Jake Bequette sat down with Sync magazine to discuss Oden's dismissal, golfing with Tyler Wilson and Dylan Breeding and the surprisingly strong form Willy Robinson showed on a flying full-body impromptu tackle unleashed the night before the 2008 Texas game.
Also, Sync's sports columnist talked some with Bequette about his unique status as a white All-SEC defensive end. That dovetailed into how his situation is similar to Peyton Hillis' and how it could potentially inspire some kids from central Arkansas private schools. The discussion sparked the first blog post of thesportsseer.com, a Sync-affiliated blog which aims to look deeper into Arkansas sports.
